Gyms are re-opening, tips to get you started!

Last week we heard the good news, since March, gyms closed around the country due to COVID-19. The NSW government announced last week that gyms are allowed to re-open from the 13th June, many people are super excited by this and cant wait to get back into their gym routine, but theres a few things to consider before rushing back!
In our latest podcast episode we touch on a few tips and advice before rushing back into the gym.
Firstly, its super important to have a set of goals, we all have that one big goal we want to achieve, whether that be lose over 10 kilos or put on some muscle. Sometimes just having that one big goal alone can seem super overwhelming, thats why its important to break it down into smaller goals, that way it looks and feels more achievable.
Now is a great time to sit down and workout your smaller goals that will lead to your big goal, so you have a rough idea of what you need to achieve each week before going back into the gym.
It’s also important to have a plan, as the old saying goes ‘’if you fail to plan, you plan to fail’’. Have a set plan each week so you know exactly what you need to do everytime you hit the gym. That way you won’t be stumped or overwhelmed the moment you walk through the gym door.
Now, the gyms have been shut for the past 3 months, so you’re body has definitely lost the strength and muscle you had before gyms closed. When heading back into the gym, its crucial that you start off small and increase your weight, don’t try lift or train like you did before gyms shut as it will be a rude shock to your body and cause serious injuries.
From day 1, take it easy, workout where your strength or cardio levels are at and then build from there. This will help avoid injury and burning out. Like anyone starting out at the gym, you cant expect to workout every single day if you haven’t trained for 3months, you will quickly burn out and require more recovery time. So take it easy.
