When we think about out life goals we usually think of big goals that are far far away and therefore easier to set and forget. In our latest podcast episode, we talk about setting goals, why it's important to set smaller goals and also what your goals mean to you.

So you have a big goal in mind, it might be to lose 10 kilos by the end of 2020. Even though it's 6 months away, it's important to think about setting smaller goals along the way to get you to your bigger goal.

Think about your big goal and work backwards. What do you need to do monthly, weekly or daily to make sure you stay on track of reaching that big goal. Some smaller goals might be ‘’reach 10,000 steps a day’’ or ‘’meal prep for the week every Sunday’’. As we have previously said, if you fail to plan, you plan to fail. So It’s important to plan out these smaller goals to reach your big goal.

Next you need to ask yourself some important questions. You need to find you WHY.

Why are you wanting to achieve these goals?

What does it mean to you?

How will you feel when you do reach your goals?

What will happen if you don’t reach your goals?

Finding your why is super important in the goal planning process. This will help motivate you, realise actually how important these goals are to you and the consequences of not achieving them and will also help on those days or weeks where you don’t feel so motivated and would rather spend 6 hours on the couch watching Netflix… we have all been there.

It’s times like this when it helps to know your WHY, when you feel so unmotivated, you can remember why you started your journey in the first place and how it will feel when you do achieve your big goal, and I promise this will motivate you to get off that couch and start taking action again.

Whilst it’s ok to have setbacks, it’s important to get back on track again.
